How We Research and Review
Pure Oil Guide helps readers understand oils and diffusers before buying or using them. Our articles distinguish product facts, manufacturer claims, evidence summaries, and editorial judgement.
Research is not hands-on testing
The current refreshed guides are based on document research. We have not bought, laboratory-tested, or measured the products for this revision. Where a feature comes from a manufacturer, we identify that source. We do not present an estimated runtime, noise level, purity result, or star rating as our own measurement.
If we publish a hands-on review in future, it should identify the unit, method, conditions, and limitations. A “best” label should have a clear reason and evidence behind it.
How sources are chosen
For product identity and instructions, we look for manufacturer pages and the manual for the relevant model. For health questions, we use sources such as public health agencies, professional organisations, and published research rather than treating a retailer description as medical evidence.
A laboratory result, a small clinical study, and a large body of clinical evidence do not say the same thing. We avoid extending a result from one formulation, route of use, or population to another without justification.
What dates mean
Original publication dates identify the historical article. An updated date records a substantive revision of that page; it is not a promise that a product listing, retailer price, or stock status cannot have changed since then.
The site was recovered from archived material and the current articles have been rewritten. Archive capture dates are not presented as dates when products were tested.
How commercial links work
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Some links open Amazon search results. We label them as searches because the results, sellers, and availability can change. They are not endorsements of every item shown. We do not reproduce Amazon customer ratings or display static Amazon prices.
Affiliate income does not create evidence for a product claim. An article may conclude that an oil is not an appropriate purchase for a particular goal and include no shopping link for that purpose.
Authorship and corrections
Refreshed pages are attributed to Pure Oil Guide Editorial. That byline identifies the site responsible for the writing; it does not imply a medical qualification or a panel of clinicians. Historical personal biographies are not used as evidence for the current articles.
If you spot a factual issue, the most useful correction identifies the page, the specific statement, and a reliable source. See our contact page for current contact availability.
